Sleep Token
Known for their unique blend of atmospheric metal, progressive rock and elements of pop and R&B, the British band’s 2024 UK & European tour was simply extraordinary. Embracing anonymity and sacredness, the band’s members perform masked, dedicating their shows to a spiritual experience that transforms every song into a sacred offering. They refer their shows to “rituals”.
Under the creative brilliance of Lighting Designer Richard Larkum and guidance of Production Manager John Pell-Ilderton, the pair brilliantly orchestrated an awe-inspiring production for the 19 rituals across Europe and the UK. Richard, AKA the Human Timecode, brought to life a phenomenal lighting rig that perfectly encapsulated the mystique and power of the masked band’s performances.
Rich’s use of cutting-edge industry-leading lighting fixtures such as Ayrton Rivale, Khamsin and Robe iForte LTX along with lighting stalwarts Ayrton Magic Blade, GLP JDC1 Strobe, and Martin Professional VDO Sceptron, created an otherworldly atmosphere. The stunning, multi-layered lighting design didn’t just illuminate the stage, it transformed the entire space, casting a spell over the audience that elevated the ritual into an immersive, transcendent experience.
Sleep Token’s 2024 European & UK tour wasn’t just a series of performances- it was a true masterclass in lighting design, a spectacle that will stay in the memory of all who experienced it.
